Default In-Game Option to Disable thw Windows key

It's making me mad. Whenever I go to hit control I hit that one key. The one key, that of all thingas, minimizes the game and causes a large load to freeze my computer and crash Guild Wars. Perhaps they should add an in-game option to disable the Windows key?

Quick solution other than tearing it off- stick a quarter under the key. It won't get in the way and you can't push it down. It also doesn't damage your keyboard.

You can do what my friend's dad(like a father to me) did. Go out, buy a cheap Keyboard, and glue the darn thing Or you can just remove it from your keyboard.

HELL NO.

ANet... don't you dare change this.

My keyboard has 2 Windows keys. If you guys are having an issue with YOUR Windows key, then find a work around. Take the button off for cripe sake if it bothers you that much!

I use my Window key ALL THE TIME when I'm playing. Sometime I leave my guy standing in the middle of somewhere while I got and answer an IM, or search for a map or a skill or SOMETHING.

Why is it that whenever someone has an issue with something they come here and immediately scream "NERF IT!"

Now you guys are gonna try to nerf my keyboard? NO WAY.

Like Masta said, if they added an option to disable it (assuming it could be re-enabled) would be nice.

He is not trying to say just NERF IT, he is asking to give the ability to disable in the game. Hence, that means it will NOT effect you if you don't disable it. Meaning you can still use it as much as you want, while he can have an option to disable it so it doesn't effect him, making you and him happy.

Do what I did, get a screw driver and remove them from the keyboard. You can put em back in, so its a big help.

Search google for "Disable Left Windows Key Windows XP". There is a very easy regedit (just double click the .reg file you can download) and it'll disable the LEFT key. That way the right key still works normally. The download I used was from John Haller (it is a SAFE download).

That way you never have a problem hitting the key in any game. There is also a download to disable both keys, but I like using it for some things.

***** BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE DOING THIS THOUGH IN CASE OF ANY MISHAPS!!!*****

Yes but why should ANet have to do ANYTHING about this? This is not something they even need to be invovled in AT ALL.

The Windows key can be disabled with ANet being involved... I don't need them to come in and change it.

Mods, please close this thread.

Just learn how to use your keyboard. I've never had this problem.

Also, playing in windowed mode works pretty well to fix this problem if you're having it.
